Race 4 in the 45NRTH Ontario Fat Bike Series p/b Cannondale
The course last year was amazing! So fast and grippy. Maybe a little cold out there, but the trail was killer. Rob has a couple options dialled for us depending on weather and conditions. Either way it will be a blast!
The goal is to make a competitive and fair race, but to balance that with being a fun day on the bike. It’s no fun to push a bike all day.
The race will (likely) go through the barn, an insulated and heated room for registration and timing and we will have lots of chilli and hot chocolate. Oh! and Big Wheel Beer for the podium, big thanks to Amsterdam Beer!
We’re back at the MTB Kingston trails for some fun in the snow! This race will feature a unique multi-lap ”endurance” format on a fun, fast course. Choose the solo 3-hour, solo 1.5-hour or Tag Team 3-hour race, and then complete as many laps as you can in the allotted time. (Whoever does the most laps for each race wins.)
We have over $1000 in draw prizes lined up so stick around, you might win some sweet fat bike schwag!
Where: MTB Kingston, 1255 Unity Road, Glenburnie, Ontario
When: February 9, 2019. Registration 9-10 am. Race starts at 11 am.
Late registration pricing starts February 4! Don’t wait until the last minute!!! (online registration closes 12:01 am February 7, but there will be day-of registration, cash only)
How long: 3 hours or 1.5 hours.
Permitted tires sizes: Same as 2018 we have a Chubby Cat. There is a 3.0 – 3.5 x 27.5/29 Category. Or we have the age based categories for 3.7 and up bikes. If the trails are free of snow, we may have a Skinny-Cat category* (though Skinny-Cat riders do not gain series points). There is a strict NO WHINING policy regarding tire width. We have to keep all the groomers happy or they will roll over us with their equipment.
Who it’s for: Everyone who likes to ride in the snow or who wants to try it out! (and we are working on a kids race since the little munchkins are getting fat bikes too!)
Food: Chili at the finish line. (Feel free to bring your own bowl and spoon. You’ll be our eco-hero.)
Prizes: Cool medals for the podium, plus amazing draw prizes for everyone!(seriously amazing draw prizes! )
3 Hr Race:
Big thanks to everyone who made it a great day of racing. Rob Sangers for crazy amounts of trail prep and grooming (and letting us move things to his garage when the barn got iced out!)
