Friday Eve Pre-Ride Canceled
With all the rain and a few new rivers we are going to cancel this evenings pre-ride while we work on drainage. See you Saturday!
So, it might be a little moist.
Well O Cup #2 is once again going to be a bit wet. And a bit cold. There is good news though. We have seen the forecast as well and Rob and the MTB Kingston crew have been working all week to make this Sunday the best race we can possibly have. The trails are on 100% private property and the owner is 100% behind the event. Sections which are prone to slick mud and unsafe riding conditions have been covered with a new layer of ‘rock dust’ and sand earlier in the week, then the Youth Race Team went for a ride to pack it in. The single track has good drainage and we have run XCMarathon races on it in the past during awful rain storms and Ontario Fat Bike Series races on it in slushy conditions. So we know how it handles wet and are ready to fix any damage after the race.
Set up your tent inside
We also have a big white marshmallow to hide in for registration and podium and you can stand in the barn to watch the race. Rob has also offered about 10,000 square feet of indoor space in the barn or coverall for you to set up your tent and put down your thermarest to have a dry night sleep. We are also buying a few more hoses.
Sunday morning we will make the final call on weather related course changes. The motocross track is the most likely to be cut with all the rain. Too bad, we were looking forward to the jumps!
The Ontario Cup is coming to Kingston! MTBKingston will be the venue for round 2 of the Ontario Cup XCO series in 2017. The Kingston O-Cup course will be unique. There is a long pump-track section, a ride through the barn, fast wide open double track and some fun technical descents to keep you on your toes. The MTB Kingston club is working on some new features including a ‘Pro only’ drop into the old motocross track beside the start/finish area.

Why make the drive? Free camping/rv parking on site, a food truck and live music on Sunday, kids race and pump-track race on Saturday, a kids skill zone open all weekend and a great race course focused on keeping it fun and fast for the early start times and progressing to make the 4th start work for the podium with multiple viewing points close to the start/finish area.
