45NRTH Ontario Fat Bike Series pb Cannondale #4 Trail Report:

Icy. The forecast for a few cm of snow Thursday night came down as rain instead. There are still lots of great trails and groomed single track, however much of it has ice sections. The most recent report is that the course is ‘ridable’ without studs, but it is race-able with studs.

We would highly recommend studded tires for the race tomorrow.

Based on this morning’s ride the Kingston Snophy will be the fastest race of the year! The corners are bermed out and hard so lean in and rip it!

There will be day-of registration from 9-10 am tomorrow morning.

Check the facebook event page for some videos from the morning ride.

Race 4 in the 45NRTH Ontario Fat Bike Series p/b Cannondale

The course last year was amazing! So fast and grippy. Maybe a little cold out there, but the trail was killer. Rob has a couple options dialled for us depending on weather and conditions. Either way it will be a blast!

The goal is to make a competitive and fair race, but to balance that with being a fun day on the bike. It’s no fun to push a bike all day.

The race will (likely) go through the barn, an insulated and heated room for registration and timing and we will have lots of chilli and hot chocolate. Oh! and Big Wheel Beer for the podium, big thanks to Amsterdam Beer!

We’re back at the MTB Kingston trails for some fun in the snow! This race will feature a unique multi-lap ”endurance” format on a fun, fast course. Choose the solo 3-hour, solo 1.5-hour or Tag Team 3-hour race, and then complete as many laps as you can in the allotted time. (Whoever does the most laps for each race wins.)

We have over $1000 in draw prizes lined up so stick around, you might win some sweet fat bike schwag!

If the trails are free of snow, we may have a Skinny-Cat category* (though Skinny-Cat riders do not gain series points). There is a strict NO WHINING policy regarding tire width. We have to keep all the groomers happy or they will roll over us with their equipment.

Who it’s for: Everyone who likes to ride in the snow or who wants to try it out! (and we are working on a kids race since the little munchkins are getting fat bikes too!)

Food: Chili at the finish line. (Feel free to bring your own bowl and spoon. You’ll be our eco-hero.)

sorry we missed this, it was 7.5k. We will post the distance for the next race as soon as the snow conditions are stable enough to tell you! See you at the Snumbler in two weeks!

It will be somewhat based on conditions. We are aiming for around 7 or 8 k but we want people lapping in around 30 minutes to keep it fun and interesting in the Barn!
